by
Cavalia

Type: Live Show + Filmed 3-D feature-length Documentary

Role: Producer

Director: “Myron” Sung Bok Jung (Korea)

Cinematic tools: 8 x 3-D camera setups on Spydercam Rigs, Descender Rigs, 35’ & 50’ Technocranes, dollies, and tripods to capture every conceivable coverage

Story: Our team of 100+ realized the fantasy of “running away with the circus” for a month in Denver, Colorado, to capture the awesome spectacle of the live show, and the grit, effort, and genius-level talent of each individual and horse that makes up the Cavalia family: Rehearsals, life outside the big top, practice- runs, and full live show performances. Blending our technically complicated 3-D shoot with Cavalia’s thousand interlocking elements of equestrian arts, acrobatic arts, stage arts, and high-tech theatrical effects inside the largest big top in the world to provide a cinematically sumptuous, 3-D experience of Odysseo’s magical intersection of artists, horses, and landscapes.

Syncing our schedules and shot list with Cavalia’s expert team was made seamless by the efforts of Darren Charles and Alain Gauthier – acrobat & dance choreographers – assumed the role of 1st A.D.s, helping us weave our intricate filming needs with the rehearsals, live show without an audience, and live show with an audience of 50 acrobats, dancers, and riders, as well as 71 horses.
